The Surrounding Area
The park is conveniently situated only 8 miles from Junction 40 of the
M6
and 1/2 mile from the A66 Penrith to Keswick road yet is nestled in
a quiet
site with stunning views of Blencathra. The historic market town of
Penrith
lies 9 miles distant, Keswick - the 'capital' of the northern lakes
is the same
distance to the west and Ullswater - to many the prettiest of the lakes
- with
its many walks and opportunities for leisure activities is a mere 4
miles away.
Further afield we are a perfect base from which to explore the whole
of the Lake District, the much overlooked pastoral beauty of the Eden
Valley and the Northern Pennines - a vast wilderness designated an 'area
of outstanding natural beauty'. The Scottish Borders, Hadrian's Wall
and the Solway Coastline are less than an hours drive away.
The surrounding area offers many activities ranging from the many varied
low and high level walks as well a multitude of lake and riverside strolls
suitable for all the family. There is a myriad of quiet country lanes,
bridleways and off-road tracks for you to explore on your bike. Alternatively
why not enjoy the views from a different type of saddle whilst going
pony
trekking on the local fells.
There
is a huge range of outdoor activities within close proximity to Hopkinsons
including golf, fishing, paintballing, quad biking, paragliding, water
sports and climbing are all also available locally as well as there
being a whole range of outdoor and indoor attractions such as visitor
centres, open farms, historic houses and museums to name but a few.
We are always happy to pass on our extensive local knowledge to help
you plan your stay with us, just call into the site office where we
will be happy to help as well as provide you with a whole range of Tourist
Information leaflets.
